"This will be a day long remembered. It has seen the end of Kenobi and will soon see the end of the Rebellion."
Yes, I know I'm quoting Star Wars, but who wouldn't on such a good day. Sure, Darth Vader was speaking in bad terms, but the good guys won out in the end, right?
Anyway....the reason I say that today was a good day is because we went to our friend's Annual Pumpkin Carving Party. It's a great time and we've managed to go for the past several years. Even last year, just a few weeks after Abigail was born, we were there. I even carved two pumpkins last year. One for me and Joanna and the other for Abby (although, hers was rather simple, since I just spelled her name).
This year, we were a little undecided on what to carve. It had to be Disney, of course, but the choices were either Minnie Mouse or Tigger. And since Abigail just happened to be wearing a Tigger outfit:
Not a bad rendition, huh? It was a little harder to tell if it was working while I was cutting, but looking at it from a little further back, there is no doubt that it's Tigger.
But then again, what happened to Minnie Mouse? We have a cute Minnie Mouse outfit that Abigail has worn (to Disneyland, even) and could have looked adorable in for Halloween and yet she was Tigger. What's up with that? Let's just say that the Minnie was a good backup, but we were really hoping that this Tigger outfit, borrowed from someone, would fit. And it did. Well, it will fit long enough to last through Monday and that's about it, but that's all that's necessary.
Here's to Halloween and all the little monsters and heroes that will be wandering neighborhoods begging for candy because their parents said it was okay. Though, as Sally Brown says during It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown:
"Is it legal?"
To which Lucy's response, "Of course it's legal." just seems so appropriate. Also appropriate, the title comes from Linus's response to seeing Lucy begin to carve the pumpkin after he retrieved it from the pumpkin patch.
Until tomorrow.
