This past summer, Joanna and I took a road trip to Oregon, with quick stops in Northern California because we had never really been there together. Along the way, we stopped at the Loleta Cheese Factory, based on a suggestion from someone I know at work (you can read a little bit about it here). Anyway, it was a once in a lifetime thing that we just happened to do because we were in the area. However, today it was more just "one of those things".
We were headed back from Northern California today, after attending our friend, Anna's, wedding. On our way down, Abby decided that she needed to take a break from the car and our nearest exit took us to a quaint little highway attraction known as, Bravo Farms. The funny thing about Bravo Farms is that they are also famous for their cheese, just as Loleta is and they have their very own cheese factory which you can tour and sample various types of cheese. So, which one is more famous and who is the judge?
Regardless, we wandered around the little area that has a good size "country shop" as well as a bar, a restaurant and even a small petting zoo. There's a picnic area and an ice cream shop that serves delicious scoops of ice cream, which, of course, we had to partake in.
After we were there for a little while, we decided that it was time to head home. Though we hadn't planned on stopping there, we decided that on our adventures to Northern California that take us across the 99 Highway, Bravo Farms might have to be at least on the list of frequent destinations. It has everything that we needed, including gasoline, food, entertainment and ice cream.
I'm not sure what this affinity to cheese factories is, or how it came to be, but I think that we are going to simply make our way around the country looking for cheese factories. We've already been to (in my opinion) the Grandaddy of all cheese factories, Tillamook, in Oregon, so that makes for three that we've been to. Anyone know how many there are in the country?
Until tomorrow.
