I'm A Nerd

I can happily admit that I like musical theater.  It's fun and the I can appreciate the music.  The older stuff that would be considered classic theater is great and the new stuff is phenomenal.  So, why am I talking about musical theater today?  Well, it actually starts with a story about work.

As part of my job, I have to sit in on meetings with vendors to make an informative decision if the school should move forward with purchasing software/hardware/whatever.  Today was one of those days.  On a side note, the software that was being marketed to us is actually really cool and has a lot of benefits for a lot of money - not something that my boss likes, though his boss doesn't seem to care.

Anyway....afterward, in speaking with the rep more casually, he stated that he lived in Florida but that he was visiting his brother in Los Angeles.  As he mentioned that, I remembered the name that he had told us, Jason Gad.  Well, Gad is a rather unique name and so I quickly asked him if his brother was Josh Gad, the actor.  He was very surprised that I knew him and not only knew him from one musical, but from a secondary and from some of his television work as well.

We talked for a few minutes after the meeting and though it wasn't a moment to be starstruck, it was still rather cool that I could talk to this guy who has a famous brother.  The other cool part is that Jason - the brother - is perfectly happy living his life as a VP of Marketing for this company and having fun trying to sell the product as he goes through life.  It was just another reminder that you have to enjoy the job you have or find a new one.

Jason enjoys his job as a Marketing executive while his brother enjoys making people laugh.  Brothers that had similar upbringings and yet decided to live different lives.  Who's to say that that can't happen for everyone?  All we have to do is enjoy our lives and the jobs that we do.  If we can't do that, what's the point?  Don't quote me on that.  I'm just suggesting that you find a passion and live your life for that passion (within reason and legal merit).

Until tomorrow.
