I'm Starting To Feel Old....

Tonight we went to the mall.  And no, that's not why I feel old.  I felt just fine walking throughout the mall and going into several stores to look for things.

As we walked through Macy's (we went because there was a great sale and we had a coupon), I noticed some nice pants and shirts that I thought I would want to buy.  However, I looked at the price and they were way over what I was willing to pay for pants.  I told Joanna that we should go somewhere that had better prices - even without a sale.  Then I looked at some of the other areas dedicated to men's clothing, I noticed that there was nothing else that I would want to wear.  That was when I figured I was getting old.

We ate dinner at the mall - and for those Catholics out there, no, we did not eat meat - and I saw men that were a few years younger than I am and they dressed alright, though not necessarily in anything that I would wear.  And then, naturally, I saw the middle school and high school boys.  I had to stare at one set of boys because it looked like they were stuck in the 80's, wearing t-shirts of heavy metal bands from that decade - bands that even these boy's parents probably didn't listen to.  So then I start to think that these kids have no reason to wear those shirts - as if they are not really into those bands but simply into the cool design of the shirt.

Did I mention I think I'm getting old?

So when did this happen?  I mean, I know that I begrudgingly celebrate birthdays every year, but when did I get old?  I was certain that I had a Peter Pan complex (go look it up - it's real).  And maybe I kind of do, still, because people tell me that I'm really good with Abby because I'm very childlike.

I don't know.  And don't get me started on what girls are wearing (or not wearing) these days.  I saw girls wearing some of the strangest outfits and wonder how their parents let them outside.  I'm honestly shaking my head trying to figure it out.

Maybe I started getting old the minute the baby was born.  Maybe it's all downhill from here.  I'm just going to start being an old man that doesn't like to pay too much money for clothes or thinks that the "kids" are wearing crap or something.

Please pray for me and my sudden onset of old age.

Until tomorrow.
