Not My American Idol

I'm almost over American Idol. If Phillip Phillips wins then I'm going to seriously consider watching next year.

This season of Idol has been boring. So much so that even Joanna said that Dancing With the Stars was much better this year than Idol.

The judges have not really been honest until tonight - the finale - and it's just a little late. The judges feel that Phillip is a unique artist without really considering the fact that he is simply copying Dave Mathews. And Jessica isn't all that better. Her powerhouse voice is suited to the ballads, so when she doesn't sing those, it's a little tough to listen to. Her voice jumps at the high notes and makes people do a double take and think, "she's sixteen!?!?!?"

As I'm writing, Jessica sang the song that will be her single if she won. The song, just like her others tonight, seemed boring.

So who should win? Dave Mathews or the boring girl? Sadly, I think Phillip is going to win only because he knows the kind of musician he is (A Dave Mathews wannabe). Jessica seems to constantly be unsure of what kind of artist she is and that's what is going to keep her records from not selling.

So there you have it America. Your winner because of popularity with all the preteen girls, and because he's more confident, though not really the best singer.

Good luck to both of them.

Until next time.
