An Anniversary and A Holiday

In the year 2000.....
  • The world was finally getting over the "End of the World" talk that had been happening since the beginning of 1999 because Windows based computers could not calculate the year 2000 and could possibly ruin everything that relied on a computer - which was the whole world.
  • My cat was born
  • I met the love of my life.
Now, which one of those do you think I'm going to write about on Valentine's Day?  My cat, of course.  Sneakers was born in October of 2000 and has since gotten two baths.  That's probably two more than she wanted, but hey, I wanted her to be fresh and sqeaky clean.  Maybe she'll get another bath this year.  Who knows.  And even though she's just past her tenth birthday, she still runs around the house and does everything that she wants to do and nothing that I would want her to do.  She likes to avoid doing any chores or helping around the house entirely.  Her greatest skill is sleeping and clawing furniture.  Not sure if either of those are helpful.

And now for some sappiness.

2/14/00.  I asked my wife out on a date that night.  I wanted to go on a date.  She wanted the free meal.  Well, her friend at the time suggested going for the free meal and look where it got us.  Eleven years later, I am still just as happy as I was on that first date.  We have so much fun together, from Disneyland to working out to just relaxing and watching some television or just working around the house.  We don't tire of each other.

And now we have our little one, Abby, who brings more joy to our lives each and every day.  Yes, she can be her own kind of crazy, but it fits in perfectly for us.

For those of you with Valentine's today, I'm happy for you.  I'm glad that you have found someone that fills you with the joy and happiness that you are looking for.  And for those of you that have yet to find a Valentine, don't worry.  Each person deserves happiness in a relationship and finding that happiness might take time.  It may take you longer than some (it took me a while to find mine), but I have faith that it will happen.  Be well, and Happy Valentine's Day.

Until Next Time.
