Let's Get Physical

No, I am not harking back to the 80's and Olivia Newton John music videos.  Actually, what I am talking about is exercise.  It's been a while since Joanna and I worked out properly - probably since she was pregnant last year.  But we have managed to start a workout three times a week.

The problem is that since it's been so long since our last workout, these past couple of weeks have been attempts at building up our endurance.  Today's trip on the treadmill consisted of one lap walking, two laps running - which was rather difficult - two laps walking, one lap running and finally two more laps walking.

All total, it was eight laps, which equates to two miles.  It used to be, in the past, that I could actually run the two miles straight.  As it was, I could barely run half a mile without wanting to stop (though I didn't).

All of this exercise is meant to burn off the baby weight that I gained while Joanna was pregnant.  Sure, you might say - "You weren't pregnant, how did you gain weight?"  Well, it's possible.  Sometimes, when a woman is pregnant, then the man tends to eat at the same intervals.  However, Joanna was so sick during her pregnancy that I was doing the eating for both of us - hence the weight gain.

So, here's hoping the workouts help.  Even if it takes a while longer to run two miles straight, maybe I'll at least be able to run a mile without slowing down.  And if I'm really brave, maybe I'll try running at more than 5.0 on the treadmill.  Nah.  I don't need to do that unless Bob or Jillian (of The Biggest Loser) are yelling at me to up my speed.

Until Next Time.
