Whip It. Whip It Good.

Most people around town have DVR or TiVo (henceforth referred to in my blog as "DiVo" - and not that "Whip It" band from the 80's with the flower pot hats) and they have fun recording shows left and right and watching them sans commercials. DiVo is such a great technology - allowing for the recording of 2 different shows at the same time, but not a third. I would like to complain about one of the general functions of the concept of DiVo in general.

First of all, let me just tell you what the current DiVo recording list is at my house:

Monday - Friday: Oprah (for Joanna)
Monday: Heroes, How I Met Your Mother and Dancing With the Stars
Tuesday: 90210 and Biggest Loser
Wednesday: America's Got Talent (luckily this ends this week)
Thursday: Ace of Cakes, Ugly Betty
Sunday: The Simpsons, Family Guy, Desperate Housewives and Brothers and Sisters

Yes I know, I skipped Friday and Saturday, but that's because there are no good shows on right now on those days - which is good. And if I had more space, I would probably add House and NCIS to the list as well.

However, our DiVo can only hold about 40 hours of shows, which can fill up pretty quickly with recording something almost every day.

So, I thought - hey, maybe we could just get another DiVo for the bedroom, thereby solving the problem of not having enough space. Then I realized - well, that wouldn't work because the two DiVo's can't talk to each other, thus allowing access of one DiVo by the other so that you don't have to watch all the shows recorded on the bedroom DiVo in the bedroom and vice versa.

I'm sure in time this will be fixed, but for now, I have to watch LIVE television when 2 shows are recording and I want to watch a 3rd. Someone please work on this. Thank you.

I've thought about getting a DVR expandable hard drive for my DirecTV but I'm not sure if they make one for DirecTV. I know Western Digital came out with one recently but I think it's for Tivo only. -paul
