. . . . . I mean, Thanksgiving.
Today is (was?) a day to give thanks for all of the things in your life. At the present moment, in the past, or in the future. And while I give thanks for all of the standard things - family, friends, home, job, etc . . . - I also give thanks for other, non standard things.
The ability to write - I have enjoyed writing more for some reason recently. It is quite possible that the Creative Impasse that I was experiencing a few short months ago could be on its way out the door.
The ability to read and comprehend - there are millions of people in America alone that cannot read. I am so glad that I am not one of them because all of the books that I requested for my birthday and Christmas would be a waste. And these books should not be wasted.
And yet, I feel, at this late hour (it's after 9 PM PST), I feel that there is something else I should be thankful for. And that is the intelligence to NOT be standing outside a store at this very moment - or in moments to come soon - waiting for a door to open, a sale to begin, and items to fly off the shelf. Yes, I know that Black Friday begins soon, but I'm going to be very thankful for sleeping in, as I don't get to do it that often.
So, for those of you weirdos, I mean, die hards, go for it. Get the deals. Have fun. Lose sleep and patience. I, for one, though, will be sleeping in and thanking God for that much needed rest.
God Bless Us, Every One.
(Oh, wait. That's Christmas)

I am with you on the no going out at 4am to get that great deal. No "thing" is worth that. I hope you were able to sleep despite Joanna being ill. Sleep tonight, tomorrow is Cyber Monday. :)
I completely agree. Sleep is too valuable. Although I did stand in line for over four hours for an iPhone... but that was during the day. -Paul
